​At 4,158 meters, the Jungfrau is the crowning jewel of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. Together with the Mönch and the Eiger, it forms the spectacular “triple peaks” skyline. Not only a renowned skiing and hiking destination in Europe, it is also legendary for the “Top of Europe” railway station at its summit—a perfect fusion of industrial engineering and natural beauty.

With its main peak rising to 8,091 meters, Annapurna is the world’s tenth-highest mountain. It refers not to a single summit but to a massive mountain massif in north-central Nepal, considered one of the most classic trekking destinations in the Himalayas.

Risco Caido and Gran Canaria Sacred Mountains are not a traditional “mountain” but a mountainous cultural landscape in the heart of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019. It stands as a testimony to the advanced wisdom of the now-vanished indigenous culture of the Canary Islands.

Serra da Estrela, meaning “Star Mountain Range,” is the highest point in mainland Portugal (1,993 meters), located in the north-central part of the country. It is an ancient granite plateau sculpted by glaciers, home to Portugal’s only ski resort and an important natural park and biosphere reserve.

Rising 1,086 meters above Cape Town, Table Mountain is the undisputed icon and natural landmark of South Africa. Its iconic flat top, often draped in a “tablecloth” of clouds, forms the core of the Cape Peninsula’s remarkable biodiversity.

Straddling the border between China and North Korea, Changbai Mountain’s highest peak in China, Baiyun Peak, reaches 2,691 meters. A dormant volcano, it is famed for Heaven Lake—the world’s highest volcanic crater lake—vast virgin forests, rare flora and fauna, and deep cultural ties to the Manchu people.

At 3,099 meters, Mount Emei lies on the southwestern edge of the Sichuan Basin. As one of China’s Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains and the bodhimanda of Samantabhadra, it is celebrated for its “grandeur, elegance, spirituality, and wonder,” blending natural beauty with Buddhist culture. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site in 1996, alongside the Leshan Giant Buddha.

With its main peak, Phoenix Mountain, at 2,572 meters, Mount Fanjing is the highest summit of the Wuling Mountain Range. It is renowned for its unique granite formations (Mushroom Stone, Golden Summit), well-preserved primeval forests, rich biodiversity, and its status as the bodhimanda of Maitreya. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2018.

Mount Heng (South) in Hunan, with its highest peak Zhurong Peak at 1,300.2 meters, is the Southern Peak of China’s Five Sacred Mountains. Famous for its elegant scenery, ancient sacrificial culture, and coexistence of Buddhism and Taoism, it is a major religious and cultural center in southern China.

Yulong Snow Mountain is the southernmost major snow-capped mountain in the Northern Hemisphere. Located north of Lijiang, its 13 peaks stretch north to south, with the highest, Shanzidou, at 5,596 meters (unclimbed). Known as “Oulu” in Naxi language, meaning “Heavenly Mountain,” it is a sacred mountain and a legendary site of love-suicide in Naxi culture.

Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng, Henan, consists of Taishi Mountain (main peak Junji Peak, 1,492 meters) and Shaoshi Mountain. It is not only the Central Peak of the Five Sacred Mountains but also the physical center of China’s traditional cosmological and ritual culture. In 2010, the “Historic Monuments of Dengfeng in the Centre of Heaven and Earth” were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Wugongshan Mountain, with its highest peak Golden Summit (Baihe Peak) at 1,918.3 meters, spans Pingxiang, Ji’an, and Yichun in Jiangxi. Famous for its vast high-altitude meadows (over 100,000 mu), spectacular sea of clouds, sunrise, and starry skies, it has become a “paradise” and social media hotspot for outdoor trekking and camping enthusiasts in China.

Mangshan Mountain in Yizhang County, Chenzhou, Hunan, lies at the northern foot of the Nanling Mountains. Its highest peak, Mengkengshi, reaches 1,902 meters, hailed as a “natural museum of flora and fauna on China’s southern ridge” and the “second Xishuangbanna.” It is known for its virgin forests, unique landforms (granite peak forests), magnificent sea of clouds, and innovative barrier-free tourism facilities.

Located in Zanhuang County, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, Zhangshiyan is the namesake of one of China’s three major sandstone landforms—the Zhangshiyan landform—and featured on a special Taihang Mountain postage stamp.

Spanning "four cities and ten counties" in Hunan Province, Mount Xuefengshan is the province’s longest and largest mountain range, often called Hunan’s "father mountain." The selected area includes sites like the Hunan Mount Xuefengshan National Forest Park in Hongjiang and Chuanyan Mountain in Xupu County. It is a vital heritage site of the Chinese national spirit and a main artery of Huxiang culture. 

Located in Russia’s Altai region, the Belokurikhinsky Mountains are a renowned wellness and mountain tourism destination, selected as a World Famous Tourist Mountain for their hot spring resources and diverse four-season tourism.

Located in Hongya County, Meishan, Sichuan Province, Wawu Mountain is the world’s second-largest and Asia’s largest table mountain, serving as the "southern gateway" to the Giant Panda National Park.

Renowned for its distinctive Danxiashan landform, Danxiashan Mountain is the namesake for this type of landscape globally. It comprises over 680 reddish sandstone formations characterized by flat tops, steep cliffs, and gentle foothills—vivid in color and varied in shape. Though not particularly high in elevation, each peak possesses its own unique charm.

Tucked within the Asir National Park, Soudah Mountain—the highest peak in Saudi Arabia—stands as an outstanding outdoor adventure destination in the Middle East.
