International Mountain Tourism Day (IMTD) Aligned with the historic first successful ascent of Mount Qomolangma (Everest), May 29 was designated as the annual observance day. This global commemoration aims to accelerate the development of an international cooperation and exchange platform for mountain tourism. Guided by the purposes of IMTA to "protect mountain resources, preserve mountain civilization, promote mountain economy and benefit mountain communities".
