As the IMTA's supreme governing body, the General Assembly operates in strict compliance with the IMTA Statutes and relevant regulations from China's Ministry of Culture & Tourism and Ministry of Civil Affairs regarding leadership transitions. It brings together delegates worldwide to deliberate on strategic plans, annual reports, and budget approvals, while electing new Council members and executive leadership.
The Assembly reelected former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin as IMTA Chairman and formed a new Council. Revised statutes were approved, reviewing IMTA’s work over the past five years. Membership expanded to 194 institutions across 34 countries and regions.
