Renowned for its distinctive Danxiashan landform, Danxiashan Mountain is the namesake for this type of landscape globally. It comprises over 680 reddish sandstone formations characterized by flat tops, steep cliffs, and gentle foothills—vivid in color and varied in shape. Though not particularly high in elevation, each peak possesses its own unique charm.

This perfect fusion of nature and culture earned Danxiashan Mountain recognition as one of the first UNESCO Global Geoparks on February 13, 2004, and it was later inscribed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site on August 2, 2010.
