The core section is the cross-country trail from Shenzi Village to Golden Summit, Fayunjie and Yangshimu, stretching about 50 kilometers. It takes 3–4 days to finish with moderately high difficulty, with the altitude rising from 600 meters to Wugong Mountain’s Golden Summit at 1,918 meters above sea level. The 100,000-mu alpine meadows are the biggest highlight. Stretching along the mountain ridges above 1,600 meters, they are lush green in summer, golden in autumn, and snow-covered in winter, resembling the grasslands of northern China. During the hike, hikers can enjoy the magnificent sea of clouds and sunrise. At dawn, the sea of clouds surges between the valleys, and the Golden Summit looms in and out of the clouds, creating a powerful visual impact. In addition, waterfalls, plank roads and ancient temples dot the route, enriching the hiking experience.

The supporting facilities are well-developed. Several standardized camping grounds along the way provide tent rental, hot showers and catering services. The Wugong Mountain Tent Festival is held every summer, attracting outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. Both the starting point of Shenzi Village and the endpoint of Yangshimu have complete transportation connection facilities, linking to Pingxiang’s urban transportation network. As an IMTA model route, strict ecological protection measures are implemented, and the concept of "Leave No Trace Camping" is promoted. It has a comprehensive signage system and emergency rescue stations, equipped with professional rescue teams and medical equipment. The best hiking seasons are May–June and September–October each year, when the meadows are at their most beautiful, the climate is mild, and it is the prime time to watch the sea of clouds and sunrise.
