Mount Gaoligong Mountain Hiking Trail - Yunnan, China (Selected in 2021)
Located in Tengchong, Baoshan, and other places in western Yunnan Province, at the western end of the Hengduan Mountains, this route is a world-class mountain hiking destination prominently released in 2021. Boasting core advantages of "rich biodiversity + primeval ecological landscapes + historical ancient trail relics," it is hailed as the "hiking paradise in western Yunnan’s secret land." Built around the Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve, the route system covers hiking trails of various difficulty levels, catering to all groups from beginners to professional hikers. It strictly adheres to the principle of ecological protection first, achieving a balance between hiking experiences and nature conservation.

The route system is extremely rich:
- Entry-Level Routes (Top Choices for Beginners): Tengchong Wudao Stream and Baoshan Baihualing. The 6-7 kilometer Wudao Stream route features gentle climbs and takes 3-4 hours, suitable for families. Core landscapes include streams, waterfalls, and primeval forests; hiking upstream, visitors can admire five consecutive streams and waterfalls, with the Sister Waterfall at the end being the most spectacular. Giant wild beehives hanging on cliffs can also be seen along the way, and no mandatory guide is required—visitors can go independently. The Baoshan Baihualing route is a classic loop, 5.5-7 kilometers long with medium intensity. As a five-star bird-watching destination in China, it records over 300 bird species and is also home to wild hot springs and thousand-year-old ancient trails, with deep horse hoof prints preserved on the stone slabs, combining ecological experiences with a sense of history.
- All-Rounder Route: Gaoligong Mountain Chuanlong Line, known as the most comprehensive landscape route. It integrates waterfalls, Jurassic moss forests, the Ancient South Silk Road, wild hot springs, and Lisu ethnic culture in one trip. With flexible route options ranging from 5 to 21 kilometers, the difficulty can be adjusted as needed, but a professional guide is mandatory.
- Secret Realm Routes: Tengchong Moss Forest and Azum. The former is centered on a magical moss world, like a fairy forest wrapped in a green blanket, suitable for families and photography enthusiasts. The latter is characterized by dense waterfalls and jade-like pools, often with rainbows in the sun, making it a niche and primeval destination.
- Professional Challenge Routes: Nanzhai Gongfang Crossing and Langya Mountain Summit. The 21-kilometer Nanzhai Gongfang Crossing features a 1,700-meter elevation gain, following the Ancient Expeditionary Army Trail, offering dual shocks of nature and history, suitable only for experienced hikers.

In terms of supporting facilities and safety guarantees, except for entry-level routes, all other routes require registration through formal travel agencies or certified guides. The scenic area has mountain entry permit offices and professional rescue teams, with emergency shelter stations along the way. The best hiking season is the dry season from November to April of the following year, when road conditions are optimal and biological activity is high. Since its release in 2021, the route has optimized services in strict accordance with international mountain hiking standards, launching themed itineraries of "ecological science popularization + hiking adventure" with professional ecological interpreters, allowing hikers to deeply understand Gaoligong Mountain’s biodiversity and historical-cultural value while exploring the secret realm.
