From May 10 to 15, northern China experienced its first widespread heatwave of the year, with temperatures reaching 35°C or higher in provinces including Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Shaanxi, and Shanxi. The sudden "overnight transition to summer" has quickly shifted travel demand from spring outings to "cool tourism." According to Tongcheng Travel data, since May 10, searches for cooling-related travel products on the platform have risen significantly, with search热度 for "water activities" and "rafting" increasing by over 200% month-on-month.

As the high-temperature zone is mainly concentrated in North China and the Huang-Huai region, demand for spontaneous weekend water-based outings and nearby cooling trips has been sparked ahead of schedule in northern areas. Tongcheng Travel data shows that from May 10 to 13, search and booking popularity for water park attractions around Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei continued to rise. Among them, search interest for Longqing Gorge increased 361% week-on-week, while search interest for the Water Cube Water Park, Tianjin Maya Beach Water Park, and Shijiazhuang Tian Shan World of Surpassing Growth all more than doubled, driving a 48% week-on-week increase in bookings for nearby homestays and hotels. In terms of traveler flows, Beijing tourists showed the strongest willingness to travel to suburban and surrounding cities for water activities, accounting for over 40% of related trip bookings. Tourists from cities such as Shijiazhuang, on the other hand, preferred comprehensive resorts with indoor and outdoor water park facilities. Families with children and working professionals were the two main groups driving demand for suburban water-based trips, accounting for 47% and 35% respectively.
