The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) will host the 2026 General Assembly of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) in Kathmandu from October 28 to 31, 2026, marking a significant milestone for Nepal's mountaineering community. Ful Gelje Sherpa, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, led a Nepalese delegation to the UIAA General Assembly held in Kosovo in October 2025, where he put forward two major agendas that received strong support from international delegates — the establishment of a mountain expedition university in Nepal, and the recognition of six additional peaks above 8,000 meters within the country.
