On the evening of August 8, local time, in response to recent public incidents involving Chinese tourists participating in cultural and sports activities in Thailand, and following a reminder issued by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand regarding Chinese citizens attending such events, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) that China is a good neighbor of Thailand, and that Thailand places great importance on welcoming tourists from all over the world, especially those from China.
Thapanee stated that for Chinese tourists, what they value most are integrity, safety, standardization, and a quality travel experience. Therefore, the Tourism Authority of Thailand attaches high importance to these aspects and will make preparations and provide guarantees at multiple levels.
Thapanee noted that data shows that from the beginning of this year to August, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand increased by about 20% compared to the same period last year. She added that in the face of the continuously growing Chinese tourist market, the Tourism Authority of Thailand still needs to make further efforts to improve tourism products and services for Chinese tourists.
