The Australian government announced on July 13 that it will fully roll out the electronic Incoming Passenger Card, replacing the paper version, to improve passenger clearance efficiency.

The Australian government issued a statement saying it will invest AUD 56.1 million over the next four years to modernize passenger clearance at airports across the country. The electronic Incoming Passenger Card system will be rolled out in stages to all international airports and seaports over the next 12 to 18 months.

The statement said that the full rollout of the electronic Incoming Passenger Card will streamline the clearance process for international passengers, reduce manual operations, enable early digital collection of passenger information, and improve the quality of risk assessment data, thereby more effectively addressing potential biosecurity and other risks.
