Time:2026-07-09 10:22

From January to March 2026, Malaysia recorded over 10.64 million international tourist arrivals, a 5.4 percent increase compared to 10.1 million in the first quarter of 2025. Among them, the Chinese market performed particularly strongly, with 1.4 million Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia, a significant 25.2 percent increase from 1.1 million in the same period last year, making China one of the largest new sources of tourists. This marks the second consecutive year that international tourist arrivals in Malaysia have exceeded the 10 million mark in the first quarter, setting a new record high for the period. The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia attributed this growth primarily to strong travel demand during the Chinese New Year holiday, particularly from China, as well as the continued improvement in flight connectivity between China and Malaysia.
