Following the nationwide sensations of the "Village BA" and "Village Super League," Guizhou’s rural IPs have evolved from internet phenomena to enduring brands. Riding the wave of Guizhou’s "village-branded" boom, Shiqian County has leveraged its own unique strengths and identified a niche path to carefully cultivate a homegrown "local flavor" IP, achieving a distinctive approach to development.
Unlike the sports-and-culture-focused events seen elsewhere, Shiqian chose to use food as its medium, turning "enjoying local cuisine" into a broader experience of "savoring food and appreciating culture." Drawing on its exceptional ecological foundation, centuries-old agricultural heritage, distinctive intangible cultural heritage, and resources such as hot springs and Taimountain tea, Shiqian adopts a focused lens to explore its rich cultural depth. By spotlighting local specialties, rustic culinary traditions, and rural lifestyles, the county has avoided homogenized development. Dishes infused with Taimountain tea and seasonal feasts based on solar terms turn every meal into an expression of tradition and cultural heritage. Local villagers form teams to compete in events, while intangible cultural heritage performances take the stage one after another, putting local people at the center and ensuring that activities are not only exciting but also deeply heartfelt. This narrative of "small focus, big culture" avoids uniformity and truly enables the creative transformation of intangible cultural heritage and rural values, making Shiqian’s "local flavor" stand out distinctly among Guizhou’s many rural IPs.
