Located in the Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang Silkroad International Resort is at Shuixigou Town which is part of the National Forest Park and one of the first national sports and leisure towns. The Resort is 38 km south of Urumqi City, 58 km from the international airport and 40 km from the railway station. The roads leading to these places are first-class highway，hence the traffic is very convenient. The Resort has invested 1.3 bllion yuan in an area of 12 square kilometers and has been classified as a national AAAA-level scenic spot. Being located in an ecological valley in the temperature inversion belt on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains with an altitude of 1,600 to 3,200 meters, it is pleasantly cool in the Resort during summertime with an average temperature of 24 degrees, which renders it the lush grass and the dense dark green pines; with an average temperature -10 degrees during wintertime, the Resort turns into a natural oxygen bar and enjoys the sufficient sunshine, pure snow and plenty of snow and ice resources, thus an ideal choice for escaping the heat waves in summer and taking ski vacations in winter. It is the first SSSS level ski resort in Xinjiang. With the certification of the Federation International de Ski, it is qualified to host international events. Part of the 13th National Winter Games in 2016 and the closing ceremony were held here. In 2017, it was awarded the National Xinjiang Silkroad Sports Training Base and Beijing Sports University Winter Sports College-Snow Sports Branch by the General Administration of Sport of China, and it was also entitled the National Sports Tourism Demonstration Base with 4 Low-speed Chairlifts. The Silkroad International Resort has 12 ski slopes covering a total area of 1.7 million square meters, which makes it the largest ski resort across China. Among the five cable cars there, the high-speed 8-person gondola car reaches the top of the mountain at 2,300 meters above sea level and becomes the high-speed skiing and sightseeing cable car that travels the longest distance with the biggest elevation difference in ski resorts all over China. To provide supportive services for tourists, the Resort has built facilities such as the longest alpine high-speed zip line in Asia, the Finnish Wooden Cabin Hotel made of Scotch pine at the 2,300-meter-high summit, the first North American RV camp in Xinjiang, the Chinese Culture Hotel, the Happy Snow Tubing Park, the Snowboarding Park, the Reception Hall with Comprehensive Ski Service as per the European Standard, the Ski Equipment of International Brands Store, the Movie and Television City of the Silkroad Culture, the Aviation Camp, the Silicified Wood Museum, the Meteorite Exhibition Hall and the Populus Euphratica Forest Park. As a mountain resort and a winter sports venue, the Silkroad International Resort plays a leading role in all-seasons travels and strives to build the core area of the national tourist resort to become a world-renowned mountain tourism destination.
