The latest report released by Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism on the 25th local time shows that from January to November this year, Chinese tourists visiting Cambodia reached nearly 1.105 million, a year-on-year increase of 43.5%, making China the second-largest source of international tourists for this Southeast Asian nation.
According to the Ministry's report, Cambodia welcomed a total of 5.17 million international tourists in the first 11 months of this year, a 13.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. During this period, the country received 1.115 million visitors from Vietnam, down 7.3% year-on-year. Vietnam remains Cambodia's largest source of international tourists.
Affected by border tensions, Thai visitors to Cambodia dropped from 1.91 million in the same period last year to 1.01 million in the first 11 months of this year, a 47% decline. Other major international tourist sources for Cambodia include the United States, South Korea, Indonesia, Laos, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
The latest official statistics show that Cambodia welcomed 420,000 international tourists last month, a year-on-year decrease of 32.5%. Among them, Chinese tourists exceeded 100,000, a year-on-year increase of 34%, making China the largest source of international tourists for Cambodia that month. Compared with the same period last year, the growth rate of Chinese tourists was significantly higher than that of Cambodia's other major source countries.
