A total of 10 Chinese provinces and municipalities held a joint tourism promotion event in Bangkok, Thailand, on Oct. 17 in a bid to attract more visitors to China.

The Chinese tourism delegation, including Jilin, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Guangdong, Gansu, Qinghai provinces as well as Shanghai and Chongqing municipalities, presented their tourist attractions to participants of the Beautiful China Tourism Promotion.

Hosted by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT), the event was attended by over 300 representatives from government, travel agencies, media outlets and airlines.

Also present at the promotional event were Chang Yumeng, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Thailand, Thanapol Cheewarattanaporn, President of Thai Travel Agents Association, and Chote Trachu, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

As China and Thailand enjoy geographical proximity, as well as a strong bond and cultural affinity, Chang said that more Thai friends are welcome to travel in the country to enjoy its splendid culture and beautiful scenery and have a deeper understanding of China.

China has been the most significant source of tourism for Thailand for many years, Zhang Hongxin, head of the delegation, said, adding that 437,100 Thai people visited China in the first half of 2019, up 5 percent year-on-year. Zhang also noted that China would continue to enhance its tourism promotion in Thailand.

Thanapol thanked the MCT for choosing Thailand as an important country for tourism promotion, and said he anticipated new ideas and information for Thailand’s tourism.

The Chinese tourism promotion will also travel to the United Arab Emirates.
