The 10th China-ROK Tourism Cooperation Seminar was held in Seoul

On September 13, 2023, the 10th China-South Korea Tourism Cooperation Seminar co-sponsored by the China Tourism Academy and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute was held in Seoul. The meeting was chaired by Choi Kyung-eun, director of the Tourism Policy Research Office of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.

Kim Se-won, President of the Korea Culture and Tourism Research Institute, and Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Research Institute, delivered opening remarks respectively. President Kim Shiyuan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and also thanked Director Zhang Ruoyu of the China Tourism Office in Seoul for attending the meeting. She pointed out that this seminar will introduce the latest tourism trends and policy information of China and South Korea, and share the status quo and prospects of the healing tourism industry that has risen rapidly after the epidemic. She also hopes that this conference will become an important opportunity to promote tourism exchanges, cooperation and development between the two countries. President Dai Bin said that he was very happy to come to South Korea to participate in the seminar and meet all the old and new friends after three years of the epidemic. He affirmed the achievements made by the two sides in data exchange, information sharing, policy transmission, results sharing and industry cooperation promotion in the past decade. He pointed out that through today's meeting, we are not only reviewing the past, but also promoting the sustainable development of tourism between the two countries in the future through issues such as healing tourism.

The keynote speech was divided into two parts. First, Dr. Liu Xiangyan from the Institute of International Studies of our Institute and Dr. Zhao Yala from the Research Department of Tourism Policy of the Korea Institute of Culture and Tourism delivered speeches entitled "Favorable Policies and Recovery of China's Tourism Market" and "Korea's International Tourism Trends and Basic Plan for 23-27 Tourism Revitalization" respectively. In the second session, Dr. Zhao Yijing from the Institute of Industry Research of our Hospital and Dr. Liu Zhiyun from the Research Department of Tourism Industry of the Korea Institute of Culture and Tourism shared their research on "Demand Discovery and industry Introduction of Healing Tourism" and "Understanding of health tourism and policy promotion Cases" respectively.

During the discussion session, China and South Korea conducted in-depth discussions on overtourism, healing travel products, tourism needs of South Korean tourists in China, representative cases of South Korean health tourism and enterprises.

In his final concluding speech, President Dai Bin pointed out that through this seminar, the two sides have reached a consensus and jointly recognized that the priority policy goal is to promote the revitalization of inbound tourism and expand domestic tourism after the epidemic. Promoting the deep integration of culture and tourism is a new direction for the high-quality development of tourism. To improve the happiness of national tourism and the sense of local tourism is the key issue that we should consider in the process of policy implementation. At the same time, they also reached a common direction of action, and the two sides need to further promote the tourism policy research, industrial cooperation and data sharing of bilateral exchanges between China and South Korea, and build the cooperation mechanism of the two houses into an important sample of global tourism cooperation in the future.

Kim Se-won, president of the Korea Institute of Culture and Tourism, concluded that in the global public's demand for a sense of quality and happiness of life is increasing, health tourism and healing tourism is the right time, and I hope that China and South Korea can give full play to their respective resource advantages and become leaders in this area.
