The 2023 High-level Seminar on Cross-border Tourism Cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was successfully held

On the afternoon of August 28, the 2023 Senior Seminar on Cross-border Tourism Cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was held in Chongqing International Cultural Tourism Window, with nearly 20 participants from culture, tourism, commerce, foreign affairs and other government departments of Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and other countries.

In order to continue to deepen cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Mekong countries, and boost the integrated development of tourism in the Lancang-Mekong sub-region, the 2023 Senior Seminar on Cross-border Tourism Cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism (hereinafter referred to as the Seminar) was officially launched on August 20, jointly sponsored by the Municipal Education Commission and the Municipal Culture and Tourism Commission. The seminar was jointly organized by Southwest University and Chongqing International Cultural Tourism Window, and was strongly supported by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government and relevant districts and counties.

As an important part of the offline training stage of the workshop, this exchange meeting actively responds to the suggestions of the participants, further highlights the characteristics of cultural tourism, and aims to provide a platform for exchange, sharing and negotiation between the workshop participants and Chongqing tourism industry.

The guests who participated in the exchange meeting were representatives of municipal departments such as the Municipal Culture and Tourism Commission, the Municipal Education Commission, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the Municipal Public Security Bureau;

In his speech at the exchange meeting, Xinya, acting Consul General of the Consulate General of Myanmar in Chongqing, said that Chongqing and Lancang-Mekong countries can deepen cooperation in tourism development, tourism services and people-to-people exchanges, and the Consulate General of Myanmar in Chongqing will continue to support Chongqing's tourism cooperation with Myanmar and Mekong countries.

Learn from each other's cultural and tourism representatives to promote tourism

In order to promote communication and cooperation, representatives of the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the Municipal Public Security Bureau made a speech on exit and entry policies, representatives of students from Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and other countries respectively made their own tourism promotion, and Chongqing International Cultural Tourism Window representative comprehensive foreign service platform promotion.

At the exchange meeting, we made full use of the advanced and complete facilities and equipment of Chongqing International Cultural Travel Window, carefully set up the activity links, cleverly arranged the activity scene, and created an immersive mood and a relaxed and pleasant exchange atmosphere. The on-site new folk music performances with Chongqing characteristics and tea art experience made representatives from all countries feel the unique charm of Chongqing culture and tourism.

The teaching model innovation of "theoretical learning + field study" was praised by the students

Since the opening of the class on August 20, through the "theoretical learning + field learning" model, the students have learned and observed the experience of Chongqing's culture and tourism development in the theoretical teaching, exchanged the experience of other countries' culture and tourism development, highlighted the field learning, promoted the exchange and mutual learning of tourism industry representatives from all aspects and multiple angles, further enhanced understanding and deepened friendship. To become an envoy of deepening tourism cooperation among the six countries of the Lancang-Mekong River and a contributor to promoting the recovery and development of tourism in the Lancang-Mekong countries.

In terms of theoretical learning, the workshop invited universities, institutions, scenic spots and other units to set up high-quality courses around policy interpretation, tourism economy, rural revitalization, cultural relics protection and other contents.

The six Lancang-Mekong countries are linked by mountains and rivers, and share a common destiny with rich cultural and tourism resources. They are each other's important tourist destinations and sources. Under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism, the six countries, adhering to the concept of open and inclusive development, have accelerated the two-way recovery of inbound and outbound tourism and cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and joined hands to promote the integrated development of regional tourism.

This seminar, which carries out professional and international tourism talent education and training and builds a platform for tourism exchanges among the six Lancang-Mekong countries, is timely and of great significance. It has been highly recognized and strongly supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, tourism authorities of Mekong countries and Mekong diplomatic and consular Missions in China.
