Recently, on the occasion of the annual summit of the Asia Pacific Travel Association (PATA) and Adventure Tourism Fair held in Pokhara, Nepal Tourism Bureau actively promoted the local government to cooperate with Nepal's "Tourism decade" from 2023 to 2033, focusing on the development of little-known destinations, and strive to promote Nepal as a major tourist destination, and will give priority to the development of tourism.

Nepal Tourism Board member Madan Acharya said the Nepalese government is actively exploring the development of tourism, such as adding infrastructure, upgrading existing tourism facilities and deploying various tourism experiences and activities across the country. The development of tourism infrastructure will be prioritized in regions such as Roelpa, Rukum, Delpa, or lesser known destinations. He expects local governments to invest in infrastructure projects, especially for roads and air connectivity.

He said he expected more international airlines to start flights to Pokhara as soon as possible, as this will help to significantly increase the number of local tourists. In addition, in view of the adverse effects of climate change on mountains, rivers and natural resources, it is hoped to focus on ecotourism in the coming years, while working to promote the practice of responsible tourism.

Nepal aims to receive 1 million foreign tourists by the end of 2023. To achieve this goal, Nepal will develop a more targeted international marketing strategy in addition to promoting new infrastructure, so that Nepal can realize its true tourism potential. In terms of publicity, Nepal Tourism will carry out destination promotion activities in target markets such as India, China and Europe, and work to increase local international air capacity, especially the new project of Pokhara International Airport, which opened a few months ago, and Gautam Buddha International Airport, which started operation a year ago and is located in Paewa.
