The 645-year-old ancient town of Qingyan in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou Province, was a military fort during the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Known as one of the most charming towns in China, it was listed as a national historical and cultural town in 2005. Qingyan houses many well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and also boasts ancient city walls, stone memorial archways and temples.
