Domestic Flight Fuel Surcharge to Increase Starting May 16
Time:2026-05-19 15:14

According to sources from airlines and ticketing platforms, the fuel surcharge for domestic flights will be raised again effective from 00:00 on May 16. The surcharge will be set at 90 yuan for routes of 800 kilometers (inclusive) or less, and 170 yuan for routes exceeding 800 kilometers, representing an increase of 30 yuan and 50 yuan, respectively, from the current levels.

Currently, the fuel surcharge stands at 60 yuan for routes of 800 kilometers or less, and 120 yuan for routes over 800 kilometers. This adjustment breaks from the previous practice of a fixed adjustment window on the 5th of each month, being postponed until the 16th. Some analysts point out that after a sharp five-fold increase in the fuel surcharge last month (April 5), this latest hike will further raise travel costs for passengers.
